Volleyball Inks Texas Native

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 18, 2011) - Katie Darst, a 5-8 setter/right side hitter from Euless, Texas, has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at John Brown University next fall. 

During her four years at Irving MacArthur High School, Darst accumulated numerous accolades which include the following:

Most Assists in a season for 2007 and 2008
Most Assists in a career
Most Services Aces in a career
2007 District Newcomer of the Year
2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 - 1st Team All District Setter
2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 - Academic All-District
2009, 2010 - Elected to National Honor Society
2010 - Selected Student of the Month by Irving Elks Club
2010 - Selected Irving ISD Athlete of the Month for October

Darst also participated on a top club team for the seven of the last eight years and won the setter position for the past three years. 

With an athletic background that dates back to early childhood, JBU head volleyball coach Stacie Johnson says that she expects Darst to be a valuable addition to the Lady Golden Eagle offense. 

“Katie has played volleyball ever since she can remember,” says Johnson.  “Her father is a high school coach and introduced her to the sport very young.  So we are anticipating good things out of her.”

Darst also excels in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA.
