“Next Big Thing” Takes Battle of the Bands to Next Level

Winning band will get recording package

Siloam Springs, Arkansas (January 19, 2011) - On Jan. 28, John Brown University students will compete for the chance to “make it big” in the music industry.  Eight student bands will face off in “The Next Big Thing” for a chance at a 4-song EP recording package (valued at $2,100) and the opportunity to open for a future concert in the Bill George Arena.

During the fall semester multiple student bands auditioned for a panel of judges and eight of those bands were selected as finalists for the event.

The panel of judges for the event include Chris Hamilton, Manager of A&R at Centricity Records; Jeromy Deibler, lead vocalist for the multi-hit band FFH; Mark Michaels, program director and on-air personality at KLRC; and Steve Snediker, instructor of cinema at JBU.

The Next Big Thing starts at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Cathedral of the Ozarks. The event is open to the public and general admission is $5.
