Lady Eagles lose in Branson

Branson, Mo. (November 12, 2010) - The JBU women’s basketball team fell 58-65 to St. Francis (Ill.) on Friday evening during day one of the College of the Ozarks Classic in Branson, Missouri. The loss drops JBU to 2-2 on the year.

Ashley Taylor had 18 points and five rebounds to lead the Eagles, and Sierra Shipley dropped in 14.

St. Francis’ Julie Schiffler led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds.

After heading to the lockers rooms tied at 32, JBU allowed USF to pull away in the second half and go ahead by as many as 13. JBU managed to cut into the deficit and made it a one point game (55-54) with 2:50 remaining after Taylor hit two free throws. But USF was able to regain the momentum and closed out the contest on a 10-4 run to secure the win.

JBU only hit 36% (20-55) of their attempts on the day, while giving up 42% (22-52) to USF.

The ladies have a quick turnaround as they look to take on St. Francis Indiana on Saturday at 1 p.m.
