Soccer stymied by Falcons

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 21, 2010) - The JBU men’s soccer team lost 3-1 to Friends (Kan.) on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The loss drops JBU to 3-3 on the year. Friends improves to 3-2.

Senior Juan Iraola gave JBU an early 1-0 lead after finishing off the assist from fellow senior Gabriel Duarte in the 9th minute. JBU held the 1-0 advantage heading into the second half.

In the 56th minute, Friends made it 1-1 when Daniel Toledo scored off the cross from Daniel Sack. Twenty minutes later, they took the lead when Elliot Lundstrom finished with a diving header off the cross from Brent Hobson.

In the 87th minute, FU sealed the deal after a foul in the box gave them a penalty kick opportunity, which Corey Wynn converted for the 3-1 lead.

JBU was out shot 11-9 but took the shots on goal advantage 6-5.

The Golden Eagles return to action at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. when they take on Oklahoma Wesleyan.
