Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 20, 2010) - Jarred Grimes, a 6-6 men’s tennis player, from Pontotoc, Miss. has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis for JBU this school year. Grimes comes in as a sophomore after spending a year at Itawamba Community College in Mississippi.

“I’m excited to have this opportunity to play for JBU,” said Grimes. “I chose JBU because of the great atmosphere, and I hope to bring leadership and experience to the team this year.”

Head coach Brenton Horne added that he also expects Grimes to be a difference maker this year.

“Jarred has college experience and he’s really tall,” said Horne. “Those are strong attributes he’ll add to the team this season.”

Grimes, who spent time at Advantage Tennis Academy in Irvine, Calif. last spring, also played two years for Pontotoc City High School prior to his time at Itawamba. At Pontotoc, he qualified for the state championship in men’s doubles during his senior year.

Grimes, the son of David and Susan Grimes, plans to major in sports medicine.
