Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 16, 2010) - The Golden Eagles return to SAC action this week with Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Wayland Baptist (Texas) both at home. They’ll take on LCU on Thursday night at 8 p.m. and look to tip off against WBU on Saturday at 3 p.m.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES: JBU enters this week’s contests at 18-8 overall and 10-8 in the SAC, after going 1-1 last week. The men crushed St. Gregory’s 72-54 but came up short in their upset bid against No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist 69-65. They are currently fifth in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.

Earlier in the season, JBU loss to Wayland Baptist 68-59 but defeated Lubbock Christian 73-68.

Davaughn Jackson, a 6-5 senior forward from Nassau, Bahamas, continues to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring and rebounding with 16.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg. As a team, JBU scores 76.9 ppg while holding opponents to 70.5 ppg. They are also ranked ninth in the country in total three pointers made (205).

With wins this week, JBU will secure themselves a spot in the SAC tournament beginning in early March.

ABOUT THE LCU CHAPARRALS: LCU is 13-11 overall and 8-10 in the SAC. They are coming off a rough week where they loss to Science & Arts of Okla. and No. 5 Southern Nazarene (Okla.). Kenny Hewitt, a 6-7 junior forward from Dallas, leads the team with 16.5 ppg. As a team, LCU is fourth in the country in three pointers made per game (8.5), eighth in turnover margin (4.1), and tied with JBU in total three pointers made with 205. LCU is currently eighth in the SAC standings.

ABOUT THE WBU PIONEERS: The Pioneers split last week after falling to No. 5 SNU but defeating USAO. They currently stand at 9-14 overall and are 10th in the SAC with a 5-13 record. Rishi Kakad, a 6-3 senior guard from Phoenix, leads the team in scoring with 16.6 ppg. The Pioneers currently average 68.3 ppg while giving up 68.9 ppg to their opponents. They are number seven in the nation in team three point percentage (39%), and number nine in total rebound defense (30.3). Individually, Kakad is ranked seventh in the nation in three pointers made per game (3.1), and he’s also seventh in free-throw percentage (86.8%).
