Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 13, 2010) - Despite a near perfect game from sophomore post Chelsea Garrison, the JBU women’s basketball team fell 66-63 against the fourth ranked Lady Bison of Oklahoma Baptist in Murray Sells on Saturday night.

The Lady Eagles fall to 8-18 and 4-14 with the loss. OBU improves to 23-2 and 16-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Garrison went 8-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from the foul line to lead JBU with 20 points along with eight rebounds. Emily Ortiz was the only other JBU player to hit double digits with 12 points.

OBU meanwhile had four players finish with double digits led by Amy Pryor’s 19 points.

With 22 seconds remaining in the game, JBU had the ball down one, 64-63, with a chance to take the lead. Junior Katie Mangels attacked the basket but missed the open look as OBU’s Vedrana Milakovic grabbed the rebound and was fouled with seven seconds remaining. Milakovic drained both free-throws giving OBU a three point cushion.

Ashley Taylor had a final look to tie things up, but her three-pointer clanked the side of the basket as time expired allowing the Lady Bison to hold on for the win.

JBU shot 52.4% from the floor while holding OBU to 39.3%. JBU committed 22 turnovers while forcing only 12. JBU dominated the glass outrebounding OBU 32-25.

The women return home on Thursday night to face Lubbock Christian at 6 p.m.
