The textbook is produced as graduate level curriculum in construction safety.

The 10 chapters of the text are authored by construction safety practitioners, university professors and researchers. Many contributors are internationally recognized experts within the field. Davis’ chapter is entitled “Implications of the Relationship Between Construction Quality and Safety.” Similarities between construction quality and safety are explained and several practical implications that could lead to improvement of construction are presented.

“Writing the chapter for the construction safety text disciplined me to answer the question that I have been asking on one of my final exams for several years: 'What is the relationship between safety and quality?'” said Dr. Davis.

Davis was named a Rinker Eminent Scholar by the University of Florida School of Construction in response to the writing and presentation of his chapter to a graduate class and construction industry guests. The University of Florida has the oldest construction program in the U.S., begun in 1937.
