JBU Hosts Green Careers Videoconference 2000

Siloam Springs, Ark (November 1, 2000) - John Brown University will host the Green Careers Videoconference 2000 via satellite on Thursday November 9, 2000 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. central time, in room 121 of the Arutunoff Learning Resource Center on the JBU Campus. The JBU Environmental Club and the Career Development Center are sponsoring the environmental career conference, and the event is free and open to the public.

The Environmental Career Center is organizing and conducting this first ever Green Careers Videoconference 2000 via satellite from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, to downlink to sites at universities, agencies, organizations, and environmental employers nationwide.

Conference panelists, experts in each environmental career field, will discuss some of the hottest jobs in green marketing, energy efficiency, sustainable planning and design, environmental technologies and related areas. Three panel sessions will be featured with moderated discussions and live interaction (question and answer sessions) with participants from the remote downlink sites. The panel subjects are: Renewable Energy, Green Marketing/Green Products, and Other Green Careers.

The Green Careers Videoconference 2000 will guide and assist university placement personnel, faculty, students, graduates, entry-level professionals and career changers. Invited participants are from the following organizations: alliance to Save energy, BP Solarex, Clean Water Action, Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas, E/Magazine, Environmental Career Center, National Wildlife Federation, Real Goods, Sustainable Jobs Fund, U.S. EPA, and an Eco-design organization (to be announced).
