Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 4, 2009) - The John Brown University Cathedral Choir will be traveling through Texas for their annual spring break tour, March 21-29. Before they leave they will make a pre-tour stop in Northwest Arkansas at Bella Vista Community Church on Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. The Cathedral Choir is comprised of fifty-six of the most qualified singers at JBU. The choir’s long standing tradition of excellence began in 1942. It has toured extensively all over the United States and in Northern Ireland. In addition to annual tours, the choir is featured in the annual Candlelight Service at JBU each December. “John Brown University continues to uphold the very best tradition of excellence in choral singing,” said Paul Smith, choir director and professor of music at JBU. “From the 17th century exuberance of Johann Pachelbel, or the eight part rich sonorities of Gretchaninoff to the 20 and 21st century sounds of Renee’ Clausen and the joyful spiritual pieces of Undine Smith Moore, the choir will bring to audiences music that will inspire them musically and spiritually.” The Cathedral Choir recently released a CD that was recorded last May in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the famed St. Marks, home church of C. S. Lewis. The CD will be on sale at each of the choir’s appearances.
