Golden Eagles shoot down Stars

Oklahoma City (February 19, 2009) - The John Brown University men’s basketball team picked up a key road win on Thursday night after crushing conference foe Oklahoma City 84-68 in Abe Lemon’s Arena.
Andrius Mikutis was the dominant force for JBU (19-8, 12-7) after scoring 21 points while going 8-of-9 from the floor including 3-of-4 from the perimeter. Other players in double digits were Cody Page who added 14 and Davaughn Jackson with 10.
Oklahoma City (15-12, 8-11) had three players finish in double digits led by Jamel White’s 21 points. Davell Jackson and Marlon Jones added 11 apiece.
JBU held onto an 11 point, 44-33, halftime lead before widening the gap to 22 points with 4:39 left in the contest. OCU tried to make a run in teh final four but the Golden Eagles held on for the 16 point win.
On the night, JBU shot 50% (26-52) while outrebounding the Stars 38-30 and limiting them to 38% shooting for the game.
Up next, JBU returns home to face Mid America Christian (Okla.) at home on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
