JBU SIFE Hosts World Trade Expo for Middle School Students

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 13, 2008) - The Northwest Arkansas Mall will buzz with enthusiasm from middle school entrepreneurs at the World Trade Expo on Friday, Nov. 14. This year, with the help of John Brown University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), these young students are applying the basic principles of business, marketing, environmental sustainability and ethics that they learned during the semester at the expo. Middle school students from Northwest Arkansas will set up booths and sell their wares from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. Awards will be handed out at 4 p.m. for the best business plan and execution of that plan. Students attended seminars throughout the semester at JBU where they learned basic business principles and how to create a business plan for a new product. Over 100 teams submitted business plans to JBU’s SIFE team and the top 30 business plans were selected to develop their product and compete in the Expo.
