KLRC Sets Record in Ratings

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 2, 2008) - John Brown University's radio station, 101.1 FM KLRC, recently set a record for the highest rating for any non-commercial radio station in Northwest Arkansas. The latest publicly released Arbitron figures give KLRC a 7.6 share of the listening audience in Northwest Arkansas, which positions them in 2nd place in a market of more than 25 stations heard in the region. KLRC‘s record share, or percentage of audience, is the highest in the history of the station. The 7.6 share represents one of the highest ratings for Christian radio anywhere in the nation. “This is a huge tribute to the work of an amazing team under the programming leadership of our program director, Mark Michaels. It’s also very direct evidence of how God is using and blessing KLRC. There’s no other logical explanation for how a non-commercial 6,000 watt station can reach so many people,” said Sean Sawatzky, KLRC general manager. “It’s a pretty humbling thing to be part of all God is doing at KLRC,” said Mark Michaels, KLRC program director. “The latest ratings are great news and a reflection on the hard work and dedication of our incredible team here at KLRC!” KLRC is programmed and staffed locally. In addition to serving the Northwest Arkansas community, it is also serves John Brown University as a training tool for advanced broadcasting students. KLRC plays a station mix of Contemporary Christian music featuring artists like Third Day, Jeremy Camp, MercyMe, Chris Tomlin and Natalie Grant. KLRC was also recently voted by the readers of Celebrate Magazine as the #1 “must have” music station in Northwest Arkansas. The poll was part of Celebrate Magazine’s “A-List Reader’s Choice Survey” published in the August edition of the magazine. Michaels said “We’ve always known we have the best listeners in the world, now there’s just more evidence!” Ratings produced by RRC from Data © 2008 Arbitron, Inc.
