KLRC Wins Top National Radio Award

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 1, 2008) - 101.1 FM KLRC has been chosen Radio Station of Year by The Gospel Music Association (GMA). KLRC was selected for the most prestigious honor in Christian radio from a pool of small-market radio stations. This is the fourth time KLRC has won this award in the past seven years. They were also named Station of the Year in 2001, 2002, and 2006. Judging for the award is based on industry leadership, ratings, overall on-air sound, as well as community involvement. "Being recognized by your peers in the industry is a very humbling experience, and while none of us go to work each day to earn an award, it's a wonderful affirmation of a lot of hard work,” said Sean Sawatzky, KLRC General Manager. “The best part of this honor is that we get to share it with the thousands of listeners who make KLRC such a special place." KLRC will be presented the GMA Radio Station of the Year award on April 23 during the 39th annual GMA Music Awards, which have been known as the Dove Awards. The recognition of excellence comes as KLRC wrapped up its yearly fundraiser, Sharathon. As a listener supported radio station, KLRC is dependant on the contributions of its listeners. Over 2300 listeners called in pledges of support for the station during Sharathon. With their help, KLRC met its $500,000 goal in only two days, breaking an all-time KLRC record for fewest hours needed to complete the fundraising effort. "There's really nothing more humbling than having so many people generously invest in the mission of KLRC,” said Mark Michaels, KLRC Program Director. “Now, because of the generosity of our listening family we can maximize every moment, and be free to focus on sharing hope with Northwest Arkansas each and every day! I really believe God has amazing plans for KLRC." 101.1 FM KLRC is a non-profit, listener-supported, radio station located in Siloam Springs, Ark. KLRC broadcasts in Northwest Ark. at 101.1 FM, 99.1 FM in Bentonville and worldwide at www.KLRC.com. KLRC is a ministry of John Brown University.
