Volleyball Falls Short in Kansas

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 8, 2007) - On the second day of the Baker (Kan.) Tournament, John Brown volleyball saw fierce competition in their opening match versus Avila (Mo.) University. John Brown would win the first two games (30-27, 30-17), but eventually fall 3-2 (30-27, 30-17, 25-30, 26-30, 11-15) in the end.

Freshman Alyssa Hanson totaled 21 assists, while freshman Kirsten Lee led John Brown (2-6) with 11 kills. Shannon Proctor and Aubrey Junker controlled the defense with 23 digs each. And Amber Wilson had five blocks.

In game two, John Brown fell 3-0 (19-30, 25-30, 30-32) to William Jewell (Mo.). Christi Newton paced JBU with 11 kills and five blocks in the match. Hanson had 17 assists, and Junker served up three aces while gathering 15 digs.

For the weekend, John Brown finished 0-4, losing to Baker and Benedictine (Kan.) on day one.

John Brown returns to action on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 14-15 at the Texas Wesleyan Tournament.
