Lady Golden Eagles Fall at Home

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 19, 2007) - A tale of two halves was the theme Monday night for the John Brown University women’s basketball team. John Brown came out strong and looked impressive in the first half but struggled making shots during the second half and fell 52-39 to Oklahoma Baptist.

John Brown (7-20, 4-12) took a one point lead into the locker room, but came out flat in the second half only shooting 17 percent (4-24) for a total of 18 second half points. Meanwhile, OBU increased the tempo and pace of the game while shooting 55 percent for the half.

Betsy Simmons led OBU with 14 points while Jennifer Jupin also reached double figures with 11.

Paige Blackburn led JBU with 12 points and Nancy Pierre had 11.

John Brown has two regular season Sooner Athletic Conference games remaining on the schedule before the conference tournament on March 1. They will travel to face Oklahoma City on Thursday at 6 p.m. and then return home to close out the schedule on Saturday against St. Gregory’s at 1:00.
