Women Win 1-of-2 on Day One of Invitational

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 20, 2006) - John Brown University opened day one of the 2006 Blue and Gold Invitational with a 3-0 win over conference opponent Wayland Baptist (Tex.) on Friday afternoon. Freshman, Nicole Schmidt led the team with 11 kills, and senior setter Juliana Todescan totaled 36 assists. Brittany Moon led the defense with 13 digs, while Sam Rogoff and Laurae Marty each had three blocks.

In their second game of the night, John Brown faced 22nd ranked Lindenwood (Mo.), but fell in four games, 27-30, 31-29, 26-30, 28-30. Laurae Marty totaled 16 kills, with most of them coming of assists from Juliana Todescan who had 47 for the match. Once again, Brittany Moon led the defensive attack with 24 digs.

In day two of the invitational, John Brown (14-18, 6-0 SAC) faces conference opponent, Lubbock Christian (Tex.) at 11:00 a.m. and closes out they day against Graceland (Iowa) at 3:00.
