Volleyball Starts Off Strong in Day One of Region VI Challenge

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 22, 2006) - Women's volleyball ended day one of the Region VI Challenge in Lubbock, Tex. undefeated.

In their first match versus host Lubbock Christian, JBU lost the first game 30-20, but was able to claim the match by winning the next three games 30-21, 30-24, 30-26.

In match number two, John Brown held of College of Southwest defeating them in three games, 30-26, 30-26, 30-23.

Laurae Marty led the team with 27 kills. Senior Sam Rogoff added 25 kills and seven blocks. Juliana Todescan had 19 kills, 87 assists, and 25 digs. Sophomore Aubrey Junker totaled 17 kills, five blocks, and 22 digs, and freshmen Kaylie Porter served up four aces and had 32 digs.

On day two, John Brown (7-11) will face Wayland Baptist at 11 a.m. and University of Texas - Brownsville at 1:00.
