Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 11, 2006) - In a game where both teams where searching for their first win of the season, John Brown was able to overcome Ottawa (Kan.) 30-11, 30-25, 32-30 in action Saturday. The win came in John Brown’s fourth and final match during the Baker University Invitational in Baldwin City, Kansas.

“This was a team we knew we could beat,” commented head coach Robyn Gordon. “It feels good to get that monkey off our back, and hopefully this might be a turning point.”

John Brown (1-9) fell to McKendree (Ill.) 1-3 and Bellevue (Neb.) 0-3 on Friday, and lost their first match on Saturday in three sets to Dordt (Iowa).

Senior Juliana Todescan led John Brown with 125 assists over the course of the tournament. Senior Sam Rogoff led the team with 37 kills.

Up next, John Brown travels to Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. rematch. John Brown lost to Ouachita earlier in the season 0-3.
