OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- On the heels of back-to-back double-digit scoring performances, freshman Baily Cameron has been named the Sooner Athletic Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday (Feb. 15) afternoon.

In the Golden Eagles' two wins over Texas Wesleyan and Southwestern A.G. (Texas), Cameron combined to shoot 16-of-28 (57.1 percent) from the field, including an efficient 3-of-4 (75 percent) from behind the arc. During the week of Jan. 8, the freshman forward averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

The weekly honor is Cameron's first-career conference accolade.

With Texas Wesleyan creeping back into the game in the fourth quarter, Cameron didn't want to see her 25-point, career-best outing go to waste. She kicked off the fourth quarter with a triple that sent JBU on a streak of seven-consecutive possessions without a missed field goal, returning the lead back to 19, 75-56. Cameron would go onto score 16 of her 25 points in the final period in 11-point win.

Although Cameron's hot shooting cooled slightly against SAGU, she captured the double-double (11 rebounds) and scored points when it mattered, including four of her team-leading 14 in overtime. Cameron, who now averages 20.25 points per game over her last four, made a move on the block to kick off overtime and dropped a layup on the Golden Eagles first possession of the extra frame. On the next offensive possession, she fired a bounce-pass to a cutting Jana Schammel to the bucket for a layup, giving the visitors a 59-55 advantage with 3:43 left. A big defensive stand allowed John Brown a chance to ice the game at the line, where Cameron gave the nations best free-throw shooting team two big conversions to ice the 62-59 victory.

Now the current scoring leader for JBU at 13.4 points per game, Cameron leads the SAC and is eighth nationally in field goal percentage (53.6 percent) and has recorded a team-best three double-doubles on the season.

Cameron and John Brown return to action on Thursday (Feb. 1*) evening, hosting Mid-America Christian (Okla.) in a 6 p.m. tip-off on
