JBU Women’s Basketball Signs Point Guard

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 31, 2005) - Head coach Jeff Soderquist announced the signing of point guard Kristy Parker to a letter of intent to play basketball for John Brown University. Parker is a senior from Bentonville High School. She will join former Bentonville High School teammates Ashley Wettengel and Tara Stephenson on next year’s roster.

Parker is the sixth player from Benton County on the Golden Eagle’s 2005-2006 roster. She averaged five points, two assists and four rebounds for the Lady Tigers this year.

Soderquist said he thinks Parker will fit in well with the Golden Eagles saying, “We’ve been watching this Bentonville program for a couple of years. Kristy is not one that scores a whole bunch but at that point guard position you don’t always need that. I think at the college level, we’ll work with her. She’s going to have to look to score more and shoot the open shot. She’s got a good shot. I think she’ll adjust well.”
