Admission is $5 and is open to the public. Excerpts will be performed from musicals On the Town, Wonderful Town, Peter Pan, Candide, West Side Story, and the opera Trouble in Tahiti. The directors of the performance are JBU’s Jeanette Hill and Donna Rollene, instructors of music. The Music Theatre Workshop program, founded in 1988, has become one of the cornerstones of the music program. Its productions consistently delight audiences of all ages. Operetta, opera, and Broadway musical are represented in the programming of the Music Theatre Workshop. Students are actively involved in multiple aspects of each production. These include the functions of not only singer-actor, but also instrumental accompanist, choreographer, set builder, costume maker, light board technician, make-up artist, stage manager, and sound effects technician. Music Theatre Workshop participants thus develop multiple skills required in the production of a piece of musical theatre. For more information, call the JBU music office at (479) 524-7154.
