Golden Eagles Shoot Lights Out to Beat Oklahoma Wesleyan

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 18, 2004) - Going 20 for 30 from behind the three-point line, the Golden Eagle men ran away with an 102-52 win against the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles. The win puts the Eagles at 5-2 for the season.

JBU took a quick lead in the game, jumping to a 22-9 score at the 12 minute mark after going on an 11-2 run. Two threes by sophomore Adam Workman helped pull the Golden Eagles to their largest lead of 18 at the five minute mark before turnovers let Oklahoma Wesleyan back to within 11 with two minutes left on the clock. Freshman Steve Briggs hit two threes with less than a minute on the clock to help pull JBU back to a 45-25 lead at half.

It was all JBU in the second half. Workman drained four treys in the first four minutes of the half, and the Eagles never looked back. Twelve threes were made in the second half alone, dominating the scoring, and giving JBU the 102-52 victory.

Workman led scoring for JBU with 24 points, going 8/9 from behind the arc. Freshmen Tyler Dees and Steve Briggs contributed four treys each, scoring 14 and 12 points respectively. Senior Ty Sawyer and junior Brandon Cole threw in two to give JBU 20 threes for the game. Junior Alex Terry had seven assists and freshman Joel Tesis had seven rebounds to lead JBU.

Freshman Austin Johnson led the scoring for Oklahoma Wesleyan with 14, and senior Jermaine Boykins added 10. JBU was able to hold there opponent to 30% shooting.

The Golden Eagles are back in action Monday night at 7:30 hosting Southwest Assemblies of God for the last game before Thanksgiving break.
