JBU Women’s Basketball Inks Texas Guard

Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 7, 2004) - Sarah Edwards, a 5’5 point guard from Pflugerville, Texas has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at John Brown University. Edwards, who averaged 7 points per game and just over 2 assists a game, joins a JBU squad that finished the season 15th in the NAIA polls and made their first ever trip to the NAIA national tournament. In addition to playing basketball, Edwards also competed in cross-country and track for her high school team.

“Sarah brings athleticism to our basketball program. Her ability to handle the ball under pressure and her ability to hit the open 3 will fit well into our system,” stated head coach Jeff Soderquist. “Sarah comes from a quality 5A program in Texas that stresses man defense and ball pressure. This should help Sarah adjust very quickly to our program and the Sooner Athletic Conference.”

Sarah is the daughter of Vivian and Curtis Edwards of Pflugerville and is planning to major in Pre-Law at John Brown University.
