JBU Women Lose Twice in Tennis

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 19, 2004) - The John Brown University women hosted NAIA No. 5 Oklahoma Christian University and Hendrix College Saturday in tennis action. The Golden Eagle team suffered losses in both matches. Oklahoma Christian defeated the host school 8-1 and Hendrix won by a margin of 6-3.

Against Oklahoma Christian, Silvy Perkins was the lone Golden Eagle to win her game defeating Micah Wooten at no. 5 singles 6-3, 4-6 and 12-10. Perkins and Raynisha Robinson played a close match in no. 3 doubles against Wooten and Linda Proctor before losing 8-6.

Perkins was also the only winner in game play against Hendrix as she defeated Katie Brown 4-6, 6-1 and 10-8. The other two victories were from forfeits in doubles action.

JBU is now 1-19 for the season in women’s tennis. The team will close out their season on Friday in the NAIA Region VI tournament when they play Oklahoma Christian University at 9:00 am in Oklahoma City.
