JBU Men Suffer Two Tennis Losses

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 19, 2004) - John Brown University hosted the NAIA No. 9 team, Oklahoma Christian University, on Saturday along with Hendrix College for men’s tennis play. Oklahoma Christian shutout the Golden Eagles 9-0, taking each set decisively with the exception of the doubles set between JBU’s Chad Weaver and Mike Dill versus OCU’s David Arriola and Andrew Lovell. In that set, the JBU combo took the OCU duo to 14 games before losing 8-6.

In the Hendrix match, except for a forfeit at No. 2 doubles, Hendrix was also able to capitalize on the courts and scored 8 wins before giving up the one contest by a forfeit. Tim Miller and Bobby Rojas pushed the No. 1 Hendrix doubles team of J. D. Prichard and Eddie Reed to a 16 game set losing only 9-7.

JBU drops to 6-11 on the season. The team will now enter NAIA Region VI tournament play in Oklahoma City on Friday, April 23 and will face Sate Fe College in first round action at 10:00 am.
