Texas Forward Signs with JBU Soccer

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 8, 2004) - Scott Wharton, a 6’ forward from Friendswood, Texas, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at John Brown University. Wharton attends Friendswood High School where he was named to the 1st Team All District as a junior. He has also accumulated numerous All-star recognitions throughout his career.

In addition to playing soccer at his high school, Wharton participates in club action with the Friendswood Fusion. During the 2002-2003 club season, the Fusion won 7 championships playing in numerous U17 and U18 tournaments.

“We are very excited to have Scott join our program,” stated JBU Soccer Coach Bob Gustavson. “He is a strong athlete who should give us a physical presence at forward. Scott has consistently been selected to All-star teams throughout his career and we expect him to continue to excel here at JBU.”

Wharton is the son of Drew Wharton and Heather Lee of Friendswood, Texas and the brother of current JBU volleyball player, Meghann Wharton.
