Golden Eagles Fall at Northwestern

Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 26, 2002) - The John Brown University Golden Eagles men’s and women’s basketball teams both fall on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Ok.

The Golden Eagles men for the 6th time in SAC play lose a game decided in the final minutes of play falling 76-81 to the Rangers. JBU has been unable to win the close ones with largest margin of defeat being 6 points in SAC play. The Golden Eagles were lead by Simeon Hinsey with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Chris Cameron added 11 points, while Aldo Mckay and Reyjavick De Gracia both reached double figures with 10 each. JBU suffered costly turnovers down the stretch as the Rangers converted 23 points off of Golden Ealges turnovers in the second half. The Rangers were lead by Josh Regnier with 20 points. JBU falls to 15-8 on the season and 5-6 in SAC play.

The Golden Eagles women’s team lost to the Lady Rangers 58-68. A game, which was closer than the final score depicted. At the break the game was tied at 28-28, but JBU went cold from the outside in the second half versus the NWOSU zone hitting only 4 of 16 three’s from behind the arc. JBU was lead by Katie Elliot and Sofie Voordeckers with 13 points each. Jessica Price led the Lady Rangers with 17 points. JBU drops to 9-13 on the season.

JBU host USAO on Thursday at 6 & 8 p.m. in another big SAC contest.
