Move-In Guidelines

Fall 2020

Dear JBU Student,

We are excited to welcome you to campus this fall. Due to COVID-19, we developed new move-in procedures to provide a safe environment for our campus community. As you prepare for your arrival to campus, here is some important information.

  1. New student move-in is August 11 and 12. Returning student move-in is Aug 13-16.

  2. Everyone will need to schedule a move-in appointment. You will have 30 minutes to move your personal items from your vehicle to your room. Please select your residence hall below. You will need to choose either “New/Transfer” or “Returning” student to get appropriate available times. After you schedule your appointment, you can adjust as necessary by canceling your original appointment and scheduling a new one.

    Mayfield Hall J. Alvin Hall
    Northslope Apartments Hutcheson Hall
    Walker Hall  Sheridan Townhouses
  3. Each student is allowed two other family members or friends help move items from the vehicle to the room. Once the vehicle is empty it will need to be moved out of the loading zone. Please be mindful of the amount of items you bring to campus this fall as it will expedite the move-in process.

  4. Every person will need to wear a mask during the move-in process, including while in the student’s room.

  5. New Students only: immediately after moving your items into your residence hall room, you will need to complete your registration by visiting with JBU officials in the Simmons Great Hall.

  6. Once a student’s move-in process is complete, family members and non-JBU students must leave campus. Families may help the student set up their room after unloading but need to finish within a few hours. (There will be a new parent orientation session via Zoom approximately a week before move-in. We will provide more information in future updates.)

We know that, especially for new students, this is not the move-in experience you might have expected. However, we are committed to the health and safety of our JBU community and feel this is the best way to limit exposure as we start the school year.

If you have any questions about the move-in process, please email
