Class of 2020 Commencement Information

Dec. 5, 2020

Dear Class of 2020 Graduates,

Thank you to those of you who responded to our initial inquiry about your attendance for commencement. It has helped us tremendously in our planning.

The May 2020 commencement ceremony will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you now officially RSVP for commencement
NO LATER than Nov. 6!

RSVP HERE

If you do not RSVP, you will not receive tickets and will not have a spot reserved for commencement.
Regalia orders can be placed at the JBU Bookstore or here until November 17.

Here are some things you need to know:

  • This will be a multi-venue event with graduates divided among BGA, BPAC and the Cathedral based on program. Your guests and program faculty will be assigned to the same venue as you.

  • We are limited to 144 graduates. Based on our tentative attendance survey this is more than enough to accommodate those that said they would attend and those that were 50/50 on attendance with some still some additional spots. It is first-come, first-serve so please RSVP soon.

  • The ceremony will be streamed to each venue with some live and some prerecorded content. President Pollard and other administration will be live in each venue for the awarding of degrees, and you will get to watch each graduate process and walk across the stage.

  • Each graduate will be limited to 4 family members in attendance due to occupancy and physical distancing requirements of the ADH. We will be issuing tickets to each graduate that will be required for entry into commencement.  Tickets will be mailed to the address provided in your RSVP. There will be no exceptions to this policy.

  • We will stream the ceremony on YouTube so that extended family and friends can watch and celebrate your accomplishments.

Please note that this plan is based on current guidelines established by the Arkansas Department of Health. If ADH restrictions are significantly altered before Dec. 5, we will update you on how commencement is affected.

Again, because of the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, we would recommend that guests check airline and hotel refund policies as they make arrangements.

We know that you may have specific questions related to commencement, so we’ve created an FAQ. If your question is not answered there, please fill out the form here.
