Library Support for Online Instruction

Known Issue: OpenVPN and Library Databases

It has come to our attention that some of our database links don't work properly for users who are connected to OpenVPN. If you are having trouble accessing library materials while using OpenVPN, try either using Remote Desktop Connection (Windows/Mac) or temporarily disconnecting from OpenVPN while connecting to library materials through EZProxy. You may need to restart your computer after disconnecting OpenVPN.

Virtual Reference Service

Please be aware that reference service is limited during the summer term. We are available by e-mail for assistance with library research or resources. Summer reference hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will reply as soon as possible during those hours; requests after hours or on weekends will normally be answered the next business day.

Link Generator

Stable or document URLs or permalinks to articles found in databases like EBSCO, ProQuest, JSTOR, and Gale may not work for off-campus users without some modification. If you wish to share links to library electronic resources with students by email or on Blackboard, use this form to create proxy-enabled links to articles in library databases.

Remote Access Instructions

This page gives step-by-step instructions for logging in to library databases, catalog, and ILLiad (interlibrary loan platform), as well as tips for solving common problems.

Circulation Policy

All books checked out by students have the due date extended to August 31. Students who elect to leave campus with library books in their possession may return them in the fall or mail them back. Circulation services are temporarily suspended as of March 17, but if you as a faculty member realize that you need books from our print collection, please contact us at for assistance.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan service will continue for article and book chapter requests. Faculty may still make book loan requests but should be aware that they may not be filled or will take longer than normal to fill. We will not be borrowing books for students during the summer.

Document Delivery

For materials that JBU Library holds in print format only, we can scan and provide digital copies for patrons who are unable to come to campus. This service does not include entire books, but can be requested for journal or reference book articles or individual chapters of books. To request an item for document delivery, use the ILLiad platform and manually enter the bibliographic information into the appropriate type of "New Request" form for your document.
