Logging In to Library Resources

When using library resources from off campus you may be required to log in to gain access. Resources that require a log in include journal databases, library account (catalog), and interlibrary loan (ILLiad). All of these resources use your JBU username and password.

This page covers the following:

Logging in to Journal Databases

The most commonly used resource is the library's electronic journal collection which is available through multiple database vendors such as ProQuest, EBSCO, JSTOR and others. In order to access these resources from off campus, you must use links provided on the library website. These links go through our EZproxy server which, when you sign in, identifies you as a JBU student or faculty member. If you attempt to go directly to a vendor (even if JBU has a subscription) you may encounter a login prompt that doesn't work, or you may be asked to pay for access.

The following are differences in links:

JBU EZProxy Link
Your web browser is directed through our proxy server. You are asked to log in with your JBU credentials.

Once logged in you have access as granted by JBU library subscriptions.

Direct Link
It will appear that you have access, but as soon as you attempt to view an article you will be asked to log in or to purchase the article.

Do not purchase access. Go to the JBU Library and use linked resources to access databases.

Logging in to the Library Catalog

The library catalog contains all physical items held by the JBU Library. Along with search function, the catalog also allows you to view items you have checked out, save lists, or renew items. You do not have to be logged in to perform searches.

Perform the following steps to log in to your library account:

  1. Go to the catalog in your preferred browser.
  2. Click on the Log in to your account link in the upper right corner.
  3. Under the JBU Login heading, click on the click here link.
  4. At the JBU Log in page, enter your JBU username and password (your Eaglenet log in).
Note: If you have already logged in to Eaglenet you will automatically be logged in.
  5. Click Sign In.
You are returned to the library catalog.
  6. Click on your name to access your account details and options.

Logging in to ILLiad for Interlibrary Loan Requests

ILLiad is the interlibrary loan software. If you have clicked on a "Request Interlibrary Loan" link from a journal database, you will be automatically taken to the ILLiad log in page. To log in to ILLiad use your JBU credentials.

Perform the following steps to log in to ILLiad:

  1. Go to ILLiad in your preferred browser.
  2. In the Username field, enter your JBU username.
  3. In the Password field, enter your JBU password.
  4. Click the Logon to Illiad button.

Problems and Issues

If you are having problems logging in, check the following common problems:

  1. Make sure you are using an EZproxy link. Go through the library website for links to journal databases.
  2. Use your JBU username and password. Do not add @jbu.edu to your username.
  3. Clear your browser cache and saved passwords. Your browser may have an old password saved.
  4. If you need to reset your JBU password, you can do so here.

If you are still having problems logging in, contact askalibrarian@jbu.edu for assistance.
