About the Library

Educational resources for students

JBU Campus Library

Arutunoff Library, located in the Learning Resource Center (building 11 on this campus map), houses information resources supporting the research needs of the university community. With nearly half a million items in its collections (including over 65,000 periodical titles and 300,000 eBooks), the library provides materials to support the education of students on campus in Siloam Springs as well as distance students who access materials remotely.

The library offers one-stop academic support, with study rooms for groups and individuals, presentation practice room, smart board room, and computer lab. The Writing Center and the IT Help Desk are also housed in the library. Library services include individual and group research instruction and efficient interlibrary loan.

Study & Presentation Rooms

The library has rooms of various sizes available for group or individual use. Reservations can be made by contacting the circulation desk (library@jbu.edu; 479-524-7202); when not reserved, rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: leaving a note on the door of a room does NOT secure a reservation.

The second floor of the library is the quiet study area. If you are using a second floor room for a group meeting, please keep the door closed and be considerate of those who are studying nearby. Study rooms are NOT soundproof.

Please do not leave your possessions unattended in a study room. They will be removed.

The following rooms are available. (View Library Map.)

  • Library Classroom/Presentation Practice Room (Room 132): This room has desks for 25 people and a computer/display system with document camera like those in other JBU classrooms.
  • SmartBoard Room (Room 218): Conference table with seats for 12. The wireless keyboard and electronic pens for use with the SmartBoard can be checked out from the circulation desk; instructions for operating the SmartBoard are posted in the room.
  • Oliver Room (Room 215): Desk, loveseat & two parlor chairs. Please be aware that because the Oliver Room houses circulating materials, library staff or users may need to briefly enter the room during your reservation time in order to retrieve materials. If you need uninterrupted use of a room, consider reserving a different room.
  • Huddle Space Room (Room 212): Table & chairs for seven people; large screen computer; huddle space hub for connecting up to eight HDMI devices. Wireless keyboard and remote for use with computer & huddle space hub can be checked out from the circulation desk. Sessions can be recorded; bring your own SD card.
  • Group Study Rooms (Rooms 213 & 214): Conference tables with seats for six; white boards. (Markers can be borrowed from the circulation desk.)
  • Individual Study Rooms (Rooms 210 & 209): Desk & chair for one person.

Policies and Services

General Policies

  • Collaborative Work Areas/Quiet Study Areas: The main floor of the library and the group study rooms are set up for collaborative work and conversation. The second floor is the designated quiet area.
  • Materials Used In-House: Please do not reshelve books and journals that you have used in the library. We keep statistics on in-house use for reporting and planning purposes. If you are able, bring items to the circulation desk when you are done with them; otherwise leave them on a table or book cart.
  • Food & Drink: Food and drink are permitted in the library. In fact, coffee and tea are available in the library for 50¢/cup. Please be considerate of library materials and other users by avoiding foods that are especially messy or have strong odors.

Information for JBU Students and Employees

Community Borrowers

JBU Library issues courtesy cards to local pastors, students and faculty affiliated with other colleges and universities, and immediate family members of JBU employees. Members of the local community may purchase a general patron card at the library circulation desk for $10/year.  You may access our online databases with our computers. See the information sheets below for more information about the policies and services for each category of patron.

Visitor parking information is available here. A campus map is available here (we're in building #11). The main entrance to the Learning Resource Center is on the Quad (east) side of the building.
