Dual Enrollment

For high school students

As a high school student, you can earn up to 24 total college credit hours at a discounted tuition rate during your junior and senior years of high school.

As a junior or senior in high school, you may take a maximum of two classes per semester for $105 per credit hour (on campus).

Earn up to 24 hours of credit

You can earn up to 24 hours of college credit while in high school. That's the equivalent of two full-time semesters in college.

Get a scholarship to JBU

Upon enrollment at JBU as a full-time degree-seeking student, you will receive a $105 scholarship for each credit hour taken at JBU as a high school student. The maximum scholarship amount is  $1,260 (equal to 12 credit hours at the dual enrollment rate).

Admission requirements for dual enrollment students

To be considered for admission to the dual enrollment program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Seniors:

  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum test score:
    • 20 ACT
    • 1020 SAT
    • 66 CLT

Juniors:

  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum test score:
    • 20 ACT
    • 1020 SAT
    • 66 CLT
    • 20 PreACT
    • 1020 PSAT
    • 66 CLT10
    • 429 Aspire

In addition, you must have your high school's approval to enroll.

Application deadlines

It is recommended that applications be completed and submitted to the Enrollment Office at least 24 hours prior to New Student Registration Day each semester.

Application fees

There is no application fee to apply for dual enrollment.

How to apply

  1. Complete the dual enrollment application

    Start-to-finish, the application takes less than 15 minutes!

  2. Submit your high school transcript and other materials

    Official high school transcript (required)

    Work with your high school to provide JBU with an official high school transcript.

    JBU prefers to receive transcripts electronically via:

    • Parchment (Naviance)
    • SCOIR
    • Slate.org
    • Overgrad
    • EDI files through the National Student Clearinghouse

    JBU will also accept transcripts sent via email to systems@jbu.edu or postal mail to:

    Note: Home-educated students have special requirements for high school transcripts.

    Standardized test scores (required)

    If your test scores are not included on your high school transcript, request that your test provider send official results to JBU.

  3. Get your admission decision in as little as a week!

    In most cases, you'll receive an admission decision within a week of completing your application!

After you apply

  1. Activate your Eaglenet account

    Activating your Eaglenet account will enable you to complete the dual enrollment process and access blackboard. Watch your email inbox for instructions to activate your account.

  2. Submit immunization records

    If you are taking face-to-face classes at JBU's main campus or a regional location, the state of Arkansas requires JBU to document that you have met the state’s immunization requirements.

    Required immunizations

    • 2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)

    Suggested immunizations

    • Meningitis
    • Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)

    JBU prefers to receive records via Medicat.

    Submission of the Pre-Registration form is required before you will be permitted to begin classes.

How many courses may I take each semester

You may take up to two classes each semester.


What is the tuition rate for dual enrollment?

The tuition rate for dual enrollment is $105 per credit hour. Course fees and book costs may apply.

You will be required to pay all special course fees, applicable book costs and tuition on the day of registration.


Do I have to reapply?

You must submit a Dual Enrollment Application form each semester you wish to take a class.


What if I want to take more than two classes a semester or more than 24 hours total?

If you want to take classes beyond the dual enrollment course offer limit, you will pay the regular hourly tuition rate
