Position summary

Assists in guiding students and families through the financial aid process from the initial FAFSA application stage to the completion of the financial aid file.  Responsible for file management.  Provides effective communication, efficient administration, and multi-tasking; is a team leader.  

Role Qualifications:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Sets objectives and accomplishes them without the need for frequent follow-up.
  • Communicates with Traditional, Degree Completion, and Graduate program students and parents both in-person and by telephone regarding both the FAFSA and financial aid process.
  • Assists the Associate Director in the verification of selected aid files according to federal guidelines.
  • Gather necessary documentation to complete Professional Judgments on special student scenarios.
  • Oversees Colleague (electronic processing) of FAFSA associated with Colleague software.
  • Works with admissions counselors in using Slate software to track incoming students from inquiry stage to accepted stage for financial aid purposes.
  • Submits completed files for awarding and payment of aid to student accounts.
  • Responsible for learning and implementing federal financial aid regulations as set by United States Department of Education.
  • Processes outside scholarships received for Traditional, Degree Completion, and Graduate program students.
  • Processes, tracks, and maintains Arkansas State Grant programs.

Essential Skills & Experience: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong computer skills.
  • Ability to organize activities well; attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • One or more years in responsible office position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
