Assistant Coordinator of Admissions

Position summary

Assistant Coordinator of Admissions provides information to students about the programs offered by The Office of Diversity as well as advice or assistance in minority students’ academic and personal pursuits. The assistant coordinator coordinates with Enrollment Team to engage minority students through the recruitment cycle via phone calls, emails, and meetings with prospective minority students and families.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Attend Preview Days and other recruiting events on campus to meet minority prospective students and families
  • Offer information about the programs and services JBU provides in order to help prospective minority students decide to attend JBU
  • In coordination with the Enrollment Team, create and implement a networking strategy to reach more minority students, specifically in NWA and potentially in Central Arkansas
  • Attend weekly team meetings and a yearly 1-2 day retreat with the Enrollment Team
  • Contribute to video content to be used on the website, social media and emails

  • Commitment to student success, particularly in addressing the unique needs of minority students

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Work experience with minority students


  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in Higher Education or a related field preferred.

  • No direct reports.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
