Position summary

Half-time position; may possibly combine two half-time positions into full-time position.  Responsible for providing general clerical and operating support to the Dean and the College faculty as directed by Dean.  Provides organization, effective communication, and multitasking; is detail-oriented and a team player.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Represents College in contact with on- and off-campus individuals, offices, and organizations, including students, administration, prospective students, alumni, employers, and others.
  • Provides general clerical support for College.
  • Sets objectives and accomplishes them without need for frequent follow-up.
  • Assists with ongoing communication with students throughout their program, notifying them of various requirements and reminding them of special dates.
  • Prepares documents (letters, memos, reports) and performs routine tasks (copying, messages, phones).
  • Prepares and updates official documents and reports (Annual Report, Self Study, special reports) as required.
  • Requisitions materials and supplies.
  • Investigates and arranges travel plans, including airline tickets, hotel reservations, rental cars, and other related support.
  • Supervises student work-study staff.
  • Operates outcome assessment instruments.
  • Maintains College files, including minutes, policy book, outcomes assessment, student records, and others.
  • Attends College meetings and records minutes.
  • Maintains all databases.
  • Provide support to college or College in maintaining website information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Two or more years of general office experience with significant interpersonal interaction.
  • Working knowledge of office productivity software (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Professional document preparation; writing and proofreading; filing; supervision of student staff.


High school graduate.  Associate’s degree in business or administrative field preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

The employee is expected to adhere to all University policies.
