Little Rock Director of Graduate Counseling

Position

The Little Rock Director of Graduate Counseling provides leadership for the success of the JBU Counseling Education Center (CEC) in Little Rock, serving and equipping our diverse student population, 27% of whom are African American and 6% of whom are other minorities. This position carries faculty status. Approximately one-third of the role will involve administrative responsibilities. The remaining two-thirds of the role will include graduate teaching and intern supervision in the university’s Community Counseling Clinic along with typical faculty duties such as advising students and participating in institutional and committee service. This position is located at the JBU Counselor Education Center in Little Rock and reports to the Graduate Counseling Department Chair on the university’s main campus in Siloam Springs.  The position begins July 1, 2022. 

Program

The Department of Graduate Counseling resides within the College of Education and Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers courses leading to the degree of Master of Science in Counseling. Its mission is to provide Christ-centered counselor training that promotes personal development, academic excellence, and clinical competency. Graduates of this program are eligible to pursue licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) in Arkansas. Central to our counselor preparation is the university’s Community Counseling Clinic where student interns develop clinical skills with actual clients under the supervision of faculty.

Required Qualifications

  • A Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision or related field completed by July 1, 2022. CACREP accredited preferred.
  • Licensed (or license eligible) as a counselor or therapist in the State of Arkansas.
  • Evidence of leadership potential
  • A commitment to teaching graduate counseling courses
  • A commitment to the integration of the Christian faith and teaching
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students
  • A desire to equip counselors, through culturally responsive and culturally relevant pedagogy, to serve a diverse set of clients
  • Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of continuous learning (e.g., scholarship, certifications, licenses)
  • Experience teaching graduate students and/or relevant professional experience in related fields
  • Relevant counselor supervision experience and credentials.
  • Administrative and institutional leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse populations

Salary

A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
