Position
The Department of Graduate Counseling at John Brown University (https://www.jbu.edu/grad/counseling/) seeks a full-time faculty member with a strong commitment to online/hybrid graduate teaching and the integration of Christian faith to begin by July 1, 2022. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching graduate courses in counseling. Other responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring students, recruiting for the major, and service on university committees. Participation in professional development and academic presentations is encouraged. This position is considered remote/online and is a key member of the team of faculty and staff serving and equipping our diverse student population.
Program
The Department of Graduate Counseling resides within the College of Education and Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers courses leading to the degree of Master of Science in Counseling. Its mission is to provide Christ-centered counselor training that promotes personal development, academic excellence, and clinical competency. Graduates of this program are eligible to pursue licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) in Arkansas. Central to our counselor preparation is the university’s Community Counseling Clinic where student interns develop clinical skills with actual clients under the supervision of faculty.

Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision or related field completed by July 1, 2022. CACREP accredited preferred.
- Licensed (or license eligible) as a counselor or therapist in the State of Arkansas.
- A commitment to teaching online/hybrid graduate counseling courses
- A commitment to the integration of the Christian faith and teaching
- A commitment to working with a diverse population of students
- A desire to equip counselors, through culturally responsive and culturally relevant pedagogy, to serve a diverse set of clients
- Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of continuous learning (e.g., scholarship, certifications, licenses)
- Relevant counselor supervision experience and credentials.
- Experience teaching graduate students and/or relevant professional experience in related fields, particularly in online or hybrid formats
- Demonstrated experience with diverse populations
Salary
A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
