Position summary

Assists in managing documents pertinent to the financial aid process. Imports and processes data on a daily basis. Requests documents from students and families pertaining to the financial aid process. Answers student questions and phone calls. Helps with general tasks in and around the Enrollment Management Office, including student preview days, Scholarship Competitions and Early Registration.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Sets objectives and accomplishes them without the need for frequent follow-up.
  • Meet with students both new and returning regarding financial aid awarding issues.
  • Communicates with traditional, degree completion, and graduate program students and parents both in person and by telephone regarding the financial aid process.
  • Oversees electronic processing of federal aid data associated with Ellucian software.
  • Receives and tracks submissions of FAFSA and workstudy paperwork.
  • Enters data and sends e-mails associated with the financial aid process.
  • Responsible for learning and implementing federal financial aid regulations as set by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Maintains Policies and Procedures Manual for use in office audits.
  • Works with admissions counselors to track incoming students for financial aid purposes, using the current software program (Goldmine).
  • Other duties as necessary.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong computer skills.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Ability to organize activities well; attention to detail and accuracy. 

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Programs including Microsoft Access.
  • Some office experience.


  • Bachelor’s degree.

Reporting to this position

  • No direct reports.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
