Position Summary

John Brown University and the Department of Graduate Counseling seek an Executive Director of the JBU CARE Clinics. This is a full-time administrative and clinical faculty position whose primary function is to provide strategic leadership for and oversight of the CARE Clinics in Siloam Springs, Fort Smith and Little Rock, Arkansas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of all clinic staff, teaching at the graduate level, and presenting professional seminars/workshops to clinical, church and community groups.  This position will be located at the main campus in Siloam Springs. Other responsibilities include advising students, recruiting for the program, and service on University committees. This position reports to and is supervised by the Graduate Counseling Department Head.


CARE is an acronym for Competence, Attitudes and character, Relationships, and Essential knowledge. The CARE Clinics are designed to provide affordable counseling to surrounding communities while also providing Graduate Counseling students an easily accessible opportunity for further training, supervision, and research.  The clinics' counselors are master's level students completing practicums in one of three available degrees: Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, and School Counseling.  The CARE Clinics offer an array of counseling services ranging from individual counseling to family and couple counseling, involving all age groups. 


An earned doctorate in counseling or related field is preferred; master’s degree in counseling or related field is required. Minimum of three years' experience as a licensed professional counselor or marriage and family therapist is necessary; must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Arkansas. Relevant clinical supervisor experience and credentials are essential, along with strong communication skills.  Clinical and administrative experience in an academic or community mental health center context is preferred. Experience in partnering with local agencies and churches is beneficial. Candidate must have effective teaching experience in higher education, evidence of scholarly potential, and a commitment to Christian higher education.


A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
