John Brown University seeks a faculty member in the Department of Teacher Education to begin July 1, 2018.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs with a primary emphasis in elementary education with a focus on literacy. A background in either special education or ESL is preferred.  Other responsibilities include field supervision of teacher candidates preparing for careers in K-12 education, working closely with public and private school partners, academic advising, recruiting for the major, accreditation responsibilities, and service on university committees. 


The Department of Education is housed with the College of Education and Human Services and is comprised of traditional undergraduate and graduate programs. The department prepares students for elementary and secondary teaching in public or private schools and is committed to preparing competent teachers to work with all learners in a multicultural society. All programs are approved by the Arkansas State Department of Education and are accredited by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).


An earned doctorate is preferred; masters required with current licensure in education. Effective teaching experience in higher education, evidence of scholarly potential, and a commitment to Christian higher education are essential.


A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
