Special Education Resource Teacher Academy at John Brown University

John Brown University is welcoming P-12 teachers to apply for the 2021-2022 Special Education Resource Teacher Academy. The University has received a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education that will allow teachers to have the opportunity to earn 12 hours of graduate credit, paid for via the scholarship grant. Along with this, teachers may earn a Special Education Resource/Co-Teacher endorsement upon passing the Special Education Praxis, which is paid for via the scholarship grant. There are NO registration fees to apply!

JBU will offer courses in person at the JBU campus in Siloam Springs as well as hybrid (in person/asynchronous) courses both at the JBU campus and online. During Academy, teachers will take 4 courses addressing foundations of special education, examination of a variety of disabilities identified by IDEA 2004, instructional strategies designed for students with special needs, and behavior management and assessment of students with disabilities. Participants will have the opportunity to work with and learn from experts in the field.

The first summer session on the JBU campus for face-to-face learning will run July 5-9 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Lodging will be available by request if traveling longer than one hour to the JBU campus.
