Master of Education in Educational Leadership

Earn your license in school administration

Launching spring 2018, the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership is a 33-hour program that leads to an Arkansas building-level administrator’s license. Included in the 33 hour master’s program is a 24 hour building-level administrative licensure-only plan. All courses are delivered in an online format, including both synchronous and asynchronous meeting times.

Admission requirements: Students must hold a current teaching license and have a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience.

This program provides a solid foundation for licensed educators who want to become transformational building-level administrators. Using a data-based approach to problem solving, the emphasis will be on developing partnerships with students, faculty, families and the community to support student achievement. Our goal is to develop individuals who are able to address the complex challenges facing today’s schools.

While knowledge is important, the JBU Graduate Education Program believes that building a network of relationships is also important. Therefore, this online program will include both required synchronous and asynchronous class sessions. In addition to coursework, students will be required to pass the Praxis Test for School Leaders Assessment for licensure, and present their online portfolio for review at the conclusion of the program.

The focus of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership program is the development of effective educational leaders who:

  • are visionary
  • use data to drive decision making
  • value collaboration
  • are good communicators
  • maintain high ethical standards
