Overview

Students in Clinical Mental Health and Marriage and Family Therapy programs have the opportunity to learn the social and cultural foundations of counseling and family therapy while traveling to Ghana, Africa and Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2017.

At the Touch A Life Care Center (TALC) in Kumasi, Ghana students will learn and serve by interacting with a group of children rescued from the experience of slavery. Students will participate in training the staff and house parents who live and work daily with the children at TALC.  Cultural experiences in Kumasi and Accra, the capital of Ghana, will round out an incredible learning experience and the Africa component of the course.

On the return trip, students will add to the international experience and multi-cultural perspective by spending three days in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
