The journey to graduate school

Becoming a counselor at JBU

Amber MontgomeryAfter I had finally gathered the courage to complete an application for graduate school, I thought to myself, "I have no idea how I am going to do this, but I am." The journey to graduate school is one that there is no real way to prepare for. You make a choice to make your life harder, more trying during the hardest of times, and intentionally choose to hope for a brighter future while paving a way to your dreams.

I remember reading on blogs about grad school; they all spoke about the difficulty of juggling responsibility, that growth hurt, but was worth it, and lastly, that it was the closest thing to death of self they could have done (joking of course).

I say all this to remind everyone that this time is trying for us and we are all sacrificing so much time, effort, energy, sleep, and so much more. I realized I attend school with some amazing people. Hearing your stories and experiences has really helped me feel enriched by this experience. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication in all of our classes, thank you for sharing, and thank you for supporting each other. May you all be blessed in your journey and know that we are all gathered together to make this a better world..... we're counselors at heart, and we make a difference every day, even without our degrees. God speed to each of you.
