Dr. Rick Ostrander is the Vice President for Research and Scholarship at the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C.  He has been involved in higher education for over twenty years as a professor, a dean, and a provost, before coming to the CCCU.  A graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., History, 1996), he has authored several books and articles and speaks frequently in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Ostrander served as a Fulbright Scholar to Germany in 2004 and maintains an active interest in global affairs and international education. He enjoy leadership roles in institutions where he can bring consistency and stability, make people feel valued, and provide them with space to exercise their unique gifts and talents.

Dr. Ostrander’s books include Why College Matters to God  (ACU Press), Reconsidering College (ACU Press), The Life of Prayer in a World of Science (Oxford University Press), and Head, Heart, and Hand: John Brown University and Modern Evangelical Higher Education (University of Arkansas Press).

Dr. Ostrander is an avid cyclist who logs thousands of miles a year on his road bike.
