Ernest R. and Doris Bingham Greenwood Endowed Scholarship

Current Endowed Scholarships

Type: Endowed

Donor: Estate of Ernest and Doris Bingham Greenwood

Established: 2016

A generous estate gift from Ernest and Doris Bingham Greenwood created the Ernest R. and Doris Bingham Greenwood Endowed Scholarship to support students at John Brown University.

Doris Lee Bingham and (James) Wallace Bingham attended JBU in the early 1950s.  After college, they became involved in the Pentecostal movement, working together as pastors in Texas and Colorado.  They were blessed with four children.  Wallace passed away in 1975.  Doris later became an ordained Methodist minister, pastoring multiple churches in Colorado.  She met and married Ernest Greenwood in 1983.  They moved to Commerce City, Colorado, where Doris retired from pastoring.  Doris passed away in 2009 and Ernest in 2015.  He had no children, so he considered his estate gift his legacy.

Doris, Wallace and Ernest all believed in helping Christian college students as they prepare to serve God in their future callings and careers.  The Ernest R. and Doris Bingham Greenwood Endowed Scholarship will accomplish their wish by impacting generations of students at JBU.
