Terri Dee Long Arndt was a passionate elementary school teacher for over 25 years. She had an extreme love and compassion for her students, many of whom lived in poverty. Terri was widely known for the lengths she would go to help provide for students’ needs. Going above and beyond to be not just a teacher but a mentor and friend to her students was her ministry and a true testament of Christ’s love. She considered her husband and two sons the greatest gifts from God. Diagnosed with cancer in her 40s, she was devastated at the thought of leaving her sons behind while they were still so young. She bravely fought for 6 years before God called her home in 2017. Through it all she was able to have absolute faith in the Lord’s plan for her while being grateful that she was able to hold on for as long as she could. Although Terri never attended JBU herself, her sister and nephew did. This scholarship is created by her father and her sister to honor Terri’s legacy by helping future teachers from southern California who also have a passion for the Lord and the love to serve the next generation.
