This scholarship was created to honor Frances and James Crawford for their over thirty years of generous giving to John Brown University. James graduated from JBU in 1949 with a B.S. in Social Studies. While at JBU, James accepted the Lord as his savior and grew in his love for the Lord. He even preached in a couple churches while a student. After graduation, James worked at the Brethren Christian School teaching for a number of years and went on to teach at Biola until 1980 when he retired with health issues. James was instrumental in sending a number of students to JBU while teaching. James died in November, 2007.

Frances worked at Brethren Christian School for 25 years total, taking time off to raise their three children. Frances and James had been married 55 years when he passed away. Although Frances did not attend JBU, she knew what an impact the university had on James’ life. When people gave her money after his death, she sent it to JBU. Frances passed away February, 2016.
